August is so insanely different since the last time I updated. She talks, poops in the potty (sometimes), picks out her own clothes, says NO! She's super hyper and smart. We're still crazy in love with this little face!

I realize I will never find the time to post photos of our amazing summer so! Here's is a list of what we were up to so I don't forget (for baby book)..

Summer 2010!

First night away from home & boat ride to Catalina Island. August did excellent on the boat.
3 day trips to the beach
Lots of time swimming & hanging in your kiddy pool with cousin Sienna.
First camping trip. 7 days at Carpinteria Beach! August LOVES the beach & eating sand. She took two amazing naps every single day we were camping! It was SO awesome.

Last Friday I got a video message on my phone while I was at my Friday night yoga class. It was a video sent by my mom of AUGUST WALKING! I got all teary eyed & could not wait for class to be over so I could see my baby walk! She has taken steps before but she is really walking now!

Tonight will be my last edit (for awhile) with the company I have been with for two years. My friend Alona is taking over my spot. I will be helping on larger events & such.

More time for me, more time for my baby. Less stressing about sleep issues, & getting my baby to sleep at a set time so I can work!

I was at UCLA in a shower, rocking back & forth on my hands and knees, fighting through back labor.

I remember the days leading up to/being in labor so well. I hope they stay this fresh forever.

Almost Labor Day

I can remember everything I was doing on this day last year.

In fear of being pregnant forever I woke up and went for a jogged. Yes, I jogged in the heat of summer 9 months pregnant! I napped, went for another walk, then walked to & from prenatal yoga with Sunny.. My teacher Nicole made us do lots of squats. I was secretly hoping my water would break in class. Dinner at Olive Garden with Mark, Sunny, Holland, and Ben for my last real meal before labor started. I destroyed baskets of bread sticks and bottles of vinegar. Then walked some more! Went to bed feeling crampy around 10 pm, woke up at 2 am in labor.

I am amazed at how much has happened in one year.

You still enjoy hiking at least twice a week on mama's chest. We can even put you in the stroller now for walks on the bike path. I even went roller blading with you.. You loved it.

We now know you CAN crawl on your hands & knees but you still prefer the army crawl.
You're going through this phase where every time you're handed a toy you drop/throw it.. It drives me a little crazy.
You pull yourself up on EVERYTHING.
Still sleeping with mama & daddy at night. Nursing lots! One night you nursed so much that I couldn't help but googled "night weaning" at 4 am...ahaha. I won't do that to you just yet.

This past week August has really gotten into eating... Finally! She'll chow down 2 oz of food, no problem! & Tonight, I couldn't shovel the food into her mouth fast enough! No more wasted baby food in this house! Yipppe.

The past month you had another runny nose & a cough. We went to doctor A LOT.
You had your first ouchy! :[ You crawled off the end of the bed after your nap. We no longer have a bed frame.. just a mattress on the floor.

We've been signing (mama, daddy, milk, more, & eat) to August off & on since 6 months of age. Tonight after months of looking like crazies we got some signage from the Aug-monster.. MORE! In between spoonfuls of bananas August would bring her little hands together till I put more food in her mouth.

From more we got to clapping (first time), lots & lots of clapping that lead to shrieking at the tops of her lungs from excitement.. oooh baby!

7 Months!

August turned 7 months old on Saturday. I know I say this every month but I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! She is growing fast, learning so much, changing every day.

Army crawling - You army crawl EVERYWHERE. You go straight for the PS3 wires, & daddy's head set whenever you play on the floor.
Sitting up - You've perfected the art of sitting. You'll sit for hours in the middle of the living room floor playing, but not in your pack n' play. You don't like to be caged.. hehe.
Teething - You cut your first tooth! Your left front tooth. & the other looks like it'll be here soon. You had ONE night of relief where you slept for 7 hours straight.
Sleep - We've had hardly any sleep this past month due to the teething. You're nursing for comfort & doing so about four times a night. You didn't even nurse this much when you were a newbie!
Solids - You were eating solids a few times a week, but we're taking a break at the moment.. You don't seem to enjoy eating them (but you do love playing in them). We are researching BLW & might take this approach with you.
Mama & Dada - You got your M's & D's down. You say mamamama & dadadadadda all the time. Melts us always.
G Diapers - We dropped a pretty penny & you are now a 100 % of the time G Diaper baby. We are having hardly any poopy explosions! I am so happy with these diapers, just keeping up on the washing can be a tuffy.

Over the past month I have been getting ready to start feeding August solid food! I made a huge order on amazon.com in prep for my baby food makin' & feeding. I ordered a Cuisinart Mini Processor, Baby Cubes & BPA free trays for storage, bamboo bowls & spoons for feeding. We bought a $25 high chair from IKEA, too. BEST $25 I think we've spent!

On Friday March 12th Mark gave August her first food - locally grown organic carrots made by me! Mark was only able to get two spoonfuls in her mouth before she refused to open. We didn't want to rush things so we just let her explore!

Annnnnd... It has been over a week & little Auggie is still exploring. Meal time is messy time. She will only eat if she is in control of the spoon. It is hard to tell how much she is actually eating, so much food is on her, the floor, walls, and even the beau dog! She will have an orange poo every now & then so I know some is actually making it into her belly.

I can't believe it.

August doesn't want to stay asleep anymore and wants NOTHING to do with daddy at bedtime. She'll fall asleep fast but once I leave the room it's cry-fest! She just wants to be touching my face all night long. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if I didn't have to work! It has been SO tuff.

Tonight, we took turns trying to get August back to sleep (she woke up after being down for 40 minutes) I'd try for 10, Mark would try for 5. Mark finally just laid Aug down & started reading & reading & reading.. he turned off the light & she was out.

My little Auggie.. You are six months old today!! HALF A YEAR! Incredible.

Breastfeed for 6 months! Not a drop of formula. You love the boob so much you won't take a bottle or a sippy cup. I am half way to my goal of breastfeeding you for at least one year.
Co-sleeping - You sleep in between Daddy & I every night. We love having you so close.
Babywearing - You'd live in your slings all day if we'd let you. The beco is the carrier of choice lately.
You roll ALL OVER the place. You're starting to army crawl, too!
You're getting better at sitting every day. You want to keep trying, even though you tumble over quite a bit.
You're so in love with Beau dog. You laugh at every thing he does & want nothing more than to pull on his face & eat him.
Books are your new favorite thing. You squeal the whole time we read to you.

At The Park

We traded our 16-24 F2.8 lens for a 24-70 F2.8 & sold the 28-70 F2.8. SO MUCH SWITCHING AROUND!

I took August to the park to try out the 24-70. This was her first time at a park actually! She was into the grass, then had a melt down when I wouldn't let her eat it. My almost 6 month old is developing quite the attitude!

Overall the 24-70 is AWESOME! It focus quickly, 2.8 is fairly sharp, f4 is were it really shines. It is also pretty light weight so I won't kill my back using it (If I had to shoot all day). Nikon is really starting to grow on me!

Over New Years weekend we had our friends Matt & Kelly staying with us from Wyoming. The weather was beyond perfect here so we headed to Ventura beach to enjoy the sunshine. This was Aug's first trip to the beach. She was asleep on me in the sling the majority of the time.. BEST DAY EVER in Aug's eyes. She loves her sling.

Insurance Non Sense

I don't understand why most insurances companies will not cover a homeopathic doctor. Our insurance company covered the $225 to see a pediatrician we didn't end up liking, yet they won't cover our homeopathic doctor's cost of $125 a visit!

Just like they will dish out thousands of dollars for a hospital birth, yet they won't cover a home birth!

Christmas 2009

August's first Christmas was wonderful! We made 3 stops on Christmas Eve & 4 on Christmas Day. I kept the Moby on at all times.. whenever she got fussy into the wrap she went & all was well!

August made out like a bandit in the gift department. We went from needing to go clothes shopping, to having so much new clothes that she will probably grow before she wears them all. Awesome!

I think Mark and I can both agree that August has brought the joy back into Christmas for us! Best Christmas yet!

I love the hoildays but I so happy they are over! We are finally getting back into the groove of things. I am still exhausted and look forward to Aug's afternoon nap every day so I can crash with her.

Mark, Aug, and I had a nice night at home - In-N-Out for dinner, George Lopez on Nick at Nite, and a little Call Of Duty & about a quarter of a glass of wine after the Aug Monster went to bed.

2010 is going to have a hell of a time matching 2009! Goals for the new year - road trip, yoga more, 365 photo project, and make Mark a vegetarian.

4 Months!

My baby is 4 months old today! So unbelievable. Much has changed in the last month. There are no more cute baby coos in this house, August is quite into yelling these days. She also started making a "HA" sound. She was HA-ing so much that at first I thought she was getting a cough! Silly girl.

At her checkup she 24 inches & weighed 14 pounds 14 oz! The pediatrician always comments on how strong Aug is, & that she very well could be crawling by 6 months... Scary!

I fall more & more in love every day. My baby is so beautiful.

& My Santa Baby!

I am so excited to celebrate August's first Christmas! Even though she has no idea what Christmas is we are going to make it a special one & start some traditions. We are going to take a picture of August in a Santa hat & buy her an ornament every year.

Here is my Santa baby & her first ornament.. which totally looks like her! So perfect.
